• That Mitchell and Webb Look, "Cheesoid" Since I finished Peep Show I started watching That Mitchell and Webb look cos I can't get enough of those boys. Last night I saw this skit and I've watched it 4 more times since then. I will almost always laugh at a robot joke, too. PET-RIL.
• Kotex Gets Real Kotex has a new line of menstrual products, and a new self-ribbing ad campaign to go along with it. I can dig it.
• AV Club's LOST reviews If you're a LOSTie, these are the best discussions of the episodes on the web IMO.
• Starbucks announces free pastry day Tuesday, March 23. It shouldn't be a surprise that I am gross, but free food when I buy my coffee? What's not to like? Who doesn't like free food?
• Etsy's Tips and Tricks for writing an engaging profile I like how it compares talking up you and your shop to chatting at the register. A must-read for any Etsy shop owner!
• American Apparel Nail Polish I'm a bit iffy when it comes to AA, but these colours look really really good! And the price isn't too bad either, especially when you buy a 3 pack. Found on Twitch Vintage's blog.

Things I Love Thursday
Sorry blogiverse, I know it has been a while (a week is eons on these Intertubes). I was in Lawrence visiting my gent until Tuesday night (so the only thing I was hating Tuesday was leaving...and my wicked caffeine headache, but I digress). In general, though, I have a bunch of ideas for articles for this thing, and I'm going to try to be more diligent about writing them up. I often think of these things while in my hair/makeup zone-out time or riding the train/walking around zone-out time and then once I get to a computer it's all gone.

• EZ Combs - I saw a woman on the train wearing one of these about a month ago and thought: Oh my god, how neat! It's like a comb and a snood combined! I debated asking her where she got it but didn't; luckily it turned up on a google search for "double combs" (which is also the name of a similar product. Basically you put one comb in your hair and stretch the other side around your loose/bunned/twisted hair, and ta-da. I have a glamourous hairdo in seconds, and thank god for these because my hair looks like shit down lately cos I need a haircut!
• summer drinks - On the alcoholic side I have my constant companion- Vodka tonic, the sweet Tom Collins, and the delightful $3.99 Trader Joe's Vinho Verde Espiral. It's a Portuguese green wine- a white wine with immature ("green") grapes that give it a light yet dry taste, but sweeter than other dry whites. Normally I'm a sweet Reisling fan, but I am liking the taste of this with and without food. And at that price, why not? As for non-alcoholic, if you can get thineself to a Sonic, please drink a Cherry Limeade for me.
• my shows, my precious shows - Now that I am finally all caught up with Weeds, and it seems it should be ending its 5th season in a few weeks, I am running out of things to watch...and just in time! August 16 is the premiere of Mad Men's third season, the 20th is the premiere of Project Runway's sixth season, and a hop, skip and a jump away on September 17th is the premiere of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's fifth season. Good thing I renewed my Rapidshare account!
• assembling furniture - While in Lawrence I talked my guy into getting a desk, and then I promptly (well over the course of two days, but not my fault) put the entire thing together. And, as far as I know, it has not collapsed so I think I did a pretty good job IIMSSM. Also, since I am in a tiny tiny bedroom I have wall shelves all over, and I put them all up myself- and again, no collapsing, whoopie. I recently bought myself an electric drill/screwdriver and am itching for more things to put together. Know anyone in need of a handybird? By the way if you share my love, or at least a passing fancy, in furniture construction you must read one of my fave blogs, ikea hacker, hours of entertainment and good ideas.
• free stuff - Who doesn't love free stuff? I've been haunting Allure because of their month of free giveaways, and just poked the head in at Bionic Beauty for the first time today and got some coupons for freebies. Also my Seattle's Best Coffee coupon for a free cookie is burning a hole in my bag. Man, I'm hungry.

• Pandora Internet Radio - I didn't know this site existed for so long. At first I enjoyed the novelty of it. Heck, I think this site got me to finally use my (sometimes WTF) iTunes Genius feature. However, the amount of ads that I'm sure were not there when people began heralding its praise are obnoxious. The music veers off into weird paths- I started once with Mew and it started playing Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ratt. And, the icing on this shit cake, after 40 hours in a month you have to pay for this bullshit! The odds of listening to something on the atrocity known as the radio are better. Convert to last.fm radio, people.

• Cropped Pants - Cropped pants ONLY look okay if they are jeans or black, very very fitted, and you are Audrey Hepburn. On everyone else, such as frumpy moms and curvy women who like to dress in unflattering clothes for some reason, these make you look fat and stupid. How would these cool your legs, if that is the reasoning? I can't imagine any other purpose. Make you look taller? No, they aren't fitted capris (which are not at trial here at all). And they definitely aren't the perfect bottoms to compliment your ugly running shoes. Ugh.

• Waiting for Mad Men Season 3 - Ahhhhh this wait is killing me! The season 2 finale was probably the best episode of the series in my opinion, even better than the much-praised first season finale. The closest resemblance to spoilers I can find are in these two articles: here and here (and be sure to click on the picture link in the latter).
In the meantime, make a cartoonized Mad Men version of yourself here. Here's mine:

Things I Love Thursday
• iced coffee - Once the temperature begins to climb (even as mild as it has been in ole Chicago), my preferred early morning method of caffeination (which isn't a word apparently) gets put on ice. Dunkin Donuts is my favourite, and I'm pretty stoked there's one less than a block away from my house. I've begun to crave it at night, too, which may be a problem. But there's always decaf.
• white wrist-length gloves - I've been obsessed with finding a pair. Vintage and thrift stores, if they even have any, are too dirty or long or small for my hands. I'm trying to think how functional they would serve in daily life...maybe I should get a grey or black pair instead to keep off the filth from the train and bus!
• holding stuff out for animals to smell - Most of my life I have lived with at least one furry purry or woof-woof and because of this I spend a lot of time alone and bored with an also bored animal. Since they almost always stare at me while I use some device or apply something to my personage, I like to hold it in front of them for them to smell it. I get oddly satisfied when they smell it for a long period of time, and their "ewewew" faces are also pretty cute. Facts I have learned: Sophie, my English Springer Spaniel loves snot (and eats used tissues), Seymour (my British Shorthair Cat) likes to lick all kinds of plastic, and both prefer things with a chemical stink than things that smell fruity or floral.
• Weeds - Netflix finally tossed season 4 disc 1 my way today, so I watched one before work. What a great show! It has the storyline and tension of a drama, but lighthearted enough of a comedy that I can watch it for hours straight (and have!). Brilliant. (By the way I am running out of television shows...)
• eBay - If you are looking for something specific and mass-produced eBay is heaven! Things I have purchased from eBay in the last few months at a fraction of the cost it would have been in-store: memory card, cell phone case, hinged wallet, EZ Combs, American Apparel shirt, American Apparel tote bag, and disposable fountain pens. Free shipping on pretty much everything, too. And you know how much I hate paying for shipping by now right?
